I offer one to one parenting consultations to parents of children of all ages. I have 10 years experience working with parents and carers with a wide range of issues, and I am Trained in Parent-Child Attachment Play.
My work is influenced by parenting models such as Attachment Parenting, Hand in Hand Parenting and Therapeutic Parenting. I believe that the key to successful parenting is to make the parent-child relationship the main priority. I believe that the parents role is to model the behaviour we want to see in our children and gently guide them with love warmth and compassion. The most powerful tool we have as parents is to listen to our children, to sit with them in their pain and delight in them for all that they are. We don't need to make children feel worse in order to make them do better.
It is my belief that our society doesn't support parents in the way that is needed. This can leave parents feeling isolated and desperate. A huge part of parenting is to have compassion for ourselves and find ways we can experience emotional support. We have to fill our own cups first, before we fill our children's.
My own children have been my biggest teachers and I see parenting as a journey rather than a job or a role. My work with parents is heavily influenced by neurobiology, nervous system regulation, mindfulness and attachment theory. I believe that emotional regulation isn't something that can be taught to a child, it's something which is felt by a child. In my work I support parents to regulate themselves in order to regulate their children. I support parents to connect more deeply with their children and with themselves.
For a 1 hour parenting consultation I charge £50.
